Rangelands quietly power the planet — feeding 60% of the world, covering over half of Earth’s land, and supporting the livelihoods of more than a billion people. They’re also the wild, open spaces we cherish for hiking, camping, and conservation.

Yet many people barely know they exist. These vast landscapes, cared for largely by pastoralists, are now under growing threat from climate change, conflict, and chronic underinvestment.

With half of the world’s rangelands at risk, the moment to act is now.

That’s why, in recognition of the UN’s declaration of 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, GLF Africa is returning with a special edition dedicated to protecting these essential ecosystems and the communities who depend on them.
