Davison J. Gumbo

Davison Gumbo is a scientist with the Center for International Forestry Research, based in Lusaka, Zambia. Davison holds a Ph.D. (Geography) and MA (International Development and Social Change) from Clark University in the state of Massachusetts in the United States. A geographer by discipline, Davison focuses on the interactions of social and ecological linkages and their outcomes. He has worked on issues pertaining to natural resource management, community-based natural resources management, bio-energy, rural livelihoods and community adaptation to climate change. Has carried out research in east and southern Africa and published widely on social and environmental issues, forestry policy, and rural livelihoods. Before joining CIFOR, Davison worked as an Ecoregion Leader for the Worldwide Fund for Nature, Southern Africa Regional office (WWF-SARPO) for five years.
