Hutan ini bagaikan raksasa hijau yang menjulang tinggi, dengan pepohonan yang menyaingi ketinggian gedung <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/environment\/article\/worlds-tallest-tropical-tree-discovered-climbed-borneo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">26 lantai<\/a>. Di bawah kanopi yang lebat, terhampar kehidupan penuh keragaman satwa seperti kera, serangga, dan burung.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hutan hujan Kalimantan, layaknya hutan hujan lainnya, berperan penting dalam menjaga siklus air global. Hutan ini menjadi sumber utama &#8220;sungai terbang&#8221;, yaitu aliran uap air yang bergerak di atmosfer dan membawa air hujan ke berbagai wilayah di Bumi. Uap air ini kemudian turun sebagai hujan di daerah-daerah yang jauh dari hutan hujan, seperti di pulau-pulau kecil dan daerah kering. Hutan ini juga memiliki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/topic-en\/peatland\">lahan gambut<\/a>, yaitu jenis lahan basah yang mampu menyimpan karbon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/climatechange\/science\/climate-issues\/biodiversity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">dua kali lebih banyak<\/a> daripada seluruh vegetasi di Bumi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Di seluruh dunia, hutan bertindak sebagai pelindung keanekaragaman hayati Bumi. Namun, sayangnya planet kita masih terus kehilangan hutan dengan kecepatan yang mengkhawatirkan yaitu hampir <a href=\"https:\/\/research.wri.org\/gfr\/latest-analysis-deforestation-trends\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">10 kali luas lapangan sepak bola<\/a> lenyap setiap menitnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Menjelang <a href=\"https:\/\/iufro2024.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Kongres Dunia IUFRO ke-26<\/a> yang akan diselenggarakan di Stockholm, Swedia, pada 23 sampai 29 Juni mendatang, kami ingin mengajak Anda mengikuti perjalanan melintasi tiga hutan hujan terbesar di dunia. Namun, angka tersebut masih hampir dua kali lipat dari level tahun 2012, ketika mencapai rekor terendah.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vh-90\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"textbox textbox-white radius-5\" style=\"background-color: #333; color: #eaeaea; font-weight: 200;\">\n<p>Peningkatan produksi komoditas ekspor seperti kedelai, kelapa sawit, daging sapi, kulit, kokain, dan emas menjadi pendorong utama hilangnya hutan di wilayah tersebut. Data dari <em>Global Forest Watch <\/em>mengungkapkan keprihatinan besar akibat hubungan timbal balik antara deforestasi, kekeringan, dan kenaikan suhu udara. Kondisi ini pada akhirnya bisa mengubah sebagian hutan hujan Amazon menjadi sabana.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vh-90\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"textbox textbox-white radius-5\" style=\"background-color: #333; color: #eaeaea; font-weight: 200;\">\n<p>Sekitar sepertiga dari hutan Amazon kini dapat diakses melalui jalur darat atau sungai, mempermudah masuknya manusia dan menyebabkan fragmentasi habitat. Wilayah ini juga mempunyai lahan gambut tropis terluas di dunia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vh-90\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"textbox textbox-white radius-5\" style=\"background-color: #333; color: #eaeaea; font-weight: 200;\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sebagian besar hutan Lembah Sungai Kongo terdapat di Republik Demokratik Kongo (RDK), negara dengan salah satu pertumbuhan penduduk tercepat di dunia, tingkat kemiskinan yang meluas, dan merupakan sumber konsumsi daging liar terbesar di wilayah tersebut, yaitu sekitar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/84612\/can-wild-meat-be-hunted-sustainably-in-tropical-forests?fnl=\">5 juta ton daging satwa liar<\/a> per tahun.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vh-90\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"textbox textbox-white radius-5\" style=\"background-color: #333; color: #eaeaea; font-weight: 200;\">\n<p>Sektor informal menjadi pendorong utama hilangnya hutan di Republik Demokratik Kongo. Aktivitas tebang-dan-bakar untuk pertanian, produksi arang dan kayu bakar, penebangan liar, dan bahkan pertambangan skala kecil untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup masyarakat, tetapi juga untuk mendanai kelompok bersenjata di perbatasan timur negara tersebut, menjadi penyebab utama menyusutnya tutupan hutan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vh-90\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"textbox textbox-white radius-5\" style=\"background-color: #333; color: #eaeaea; font-weight: 200;\">\n<p>Namun di Kamerun, tantangannya berbeda. Perkebunan karet dan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-018-07915-2#:~:text=Despite%20accounting%20for%2024%25%20(4.5,at%20the%20expense%20of%20forest.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">kelapa sawit <\/a>bermunculan, menggusur hutan alam. Hutan-hutan ini menjadi satu-satunya habitat di dunia di mana kita bisa menemukan gajah, harimau, badak, dan orangutan hidup berdampingan di bawah kanopi yang sama. Hutan di wilayah ini merupakan hutan tropis terbesar ketiga di dunia. Sebagian besar wilayah hutan ini berada di Indonesia, dengan area yang masih tersambung terutama terdapat di pulau Papua dan Kalimantan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vh-90\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"textbox textbox-white radius-5\" style=\"background-color: #333; color: #eaeaea; font-weight: 200;\">\n<p>Selama beberapa dekade terakhir, hutan di Indonesia mengalami tekanan besar akibat permintaan global akan minyak kelapa sawit dan <em>pulp\u2014<\/em>bahan baku untuk produk pakaian dan kertas\u2014penebangan liar, pembangunan bendungan, dan pertambangan menyebabkan hilangnya sebagian besar wilayah hutan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vh-90\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"textbox textbox-white radius-5\" style=\"background-color: #333; color: #eaeaea; font-weight: 200;\">\n<p>Namun, kabar gembiranya adalah Indonesia menunjukkan kemajuan signifikan dalam memerangi deforestasi. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, laju deforestasi telah menunjukkan tren penurunan.
