Bagaimana perempuan bisa sukses dalam masyarakat dominan lelaki? Bagaimana perempuan tetap aman di lapangan? Dalam serial lima artikel dalam tema Hari Perempuan Internasional 8 Maret 2024, lima ilmuwan-peneliti Inisiatif COLANDS \u2013 Kolaborasi untuk Operasionalisasi Pendekatan Lanskap untuk Alam, Pembangunan dan Keberlanjutan \u2013 menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan itu dan sejumlah pertanyaan lain dalam perannya sebagai peneliti dan akademisi. Jawaban dalam artikel ini telah melalui proses penyuntingan seperlunya agar jelas dan ringkas. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sima Fakheran<\/strong> adalah seorang Asisten Profesor di Fakultas Kehutanan Universitas British Columbia, Kanada dan Asisten Profesor Ilmu Hayati Universitas Teknologi Isfahan, Iran. Ia menyelesaikan Ph.D. di Universitas ZuricH, Swiss, dan menjabat sebagai Kepala Kompartemen Swiss di Badan Nasional Kerja Sama Sains dan Teknologi Iran sejak 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Simak berkisah pada Kabar Hutan:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSebagai mahasiswa muda di Iran, saya belajar ilmu hayati agar satu hari nanti, saya bisa bekerja di Program Lingkungan PBB untuk membantu negara saya dan dunia.<\/p>\n<p>Sayangnya, tidak ada panutan dan tidak ada profesor perempuan di program studi saat saya masih mahasiswa di Universitas Teknologi Isfahan, Teheran. Hal ini tidak terlepas dari realitas politik dan sosial di negara kami \u2013 khususnya bagi perempuan. Sampai sekarang pun masih sedikit perempuan berada dalam peran itu. Melihat hal ini, saya mempertimbangkan untuk mengajar: sebagai profesor ilmu hayati, saya bisa menginspirasi banyak mahasiswa perempuan mempelajari sumber daya alam di Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Walaupun, setelah mendapatkan bea siswa Ph.D di Universitas Zurich di Swiss, saya mendapati bahwa bekerja dengan tim riset unggul dalam biodiversitas ternyata sangat menginspirasi. Saya memutuskan untuk menjadi ilmuwan. Saya melihat ini sebagai jalan lain menjadi panutan positif bagi mahasiswa, terutama perempuan.<\/p>\n<p>Kebutuhan adanya panutan menguat. Terdapat ketidakseimbangan gender yang signifikan, khususnya pada level senior manajemen dan eksekutif. Perekrutan perempuan pada posisi senior masih belum setara di bidang akademik, contohnya. Meskipun sudah lebih banyak perempuan bergelar magister dan doktor dibanding lelaki. Dampak dari ketidakseimbangan ini, sistem akademik makin kehilangan perempuan di tiap tahap karirnya, sehingga memperkuat siklus negatif.<\/p>\n<p>Meskipun demikian, masih ada hal positif. Lulus dari universitas di dua wilayah yang sangat berbeda \u2013 Eropa dan Timur Tengah \u2013 bekerja dalam bahasa berbeda, lingkungan dan budaya berbeda, memperluas perspektif saya dan memberi kesempatan saya untuk berbagi sebagai mentor.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Ucapan Terima Kasih<\/strong><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>COLANDS merupakan bagian dari Inisiatif Iklim Internasional (IKI) dan mendapat pendanan dari Kementerian Lingkungan, Konservasi Alam dan Keamanan Nuklir (BMU) Pemerintah Federal Jerman.
