{"id":86836,"date":"2024-02-21T05:05:32","date_gmt":"2024-02-20T22:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/?p=86836"},"modified":"2025-08-04T07:49:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T00:49:17","slug":"dapatkah-agroekologi-mengatasi-ketergantungan-terhadap-pupuk-sintetis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/id\/86836\/dapatkah-agroekologi-mengatasi-ketergantungan-terhadap-pupuk-sintetis","title":{"rendered":"Dapatkah Agroekologi Mengatasi Ketergantungan Terhadap Pupuk Sintetis?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seiring dengan meningkatnya produksi pangan global untuk memenuhi pertumbuhan populasi, terjadi juga peningkatan nitrogen industri untuk pupuk terhadap emisi gas rumah kaca dan pencemaran ekosistem perairan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agroekologi dapat membantu menangani dua permasalahan tersebut melalui peningkatan kesehatan lahan sekaligus pengurangan penggunaan pupuk sintetis dan emisi yang dihasilkan, ujar para ahli yang hadir dalam <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agroecology-europe.org\/agroecology-europe-forum-2023\/programme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Agroecology Europe Forum 2023,<\/a> acara yang dihadiri oleh 50 peneliti, petani, dan mereka yang turut serta dalam gerakan agroekologi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Berlangsung di Budapest, Hongaria, pada 16-18 November 2023, forum tersebut menghadirkan lokakarya mengenai tentang pendekatan agroekologi terhadap unsur hara dan pengelolaan kesehatan tanah, dengan studi kasus dari Eropa, Afrika, Asia, dan Amerika Latin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSistem pangan bertanggung jawab atas sepertiga emisi gas rumah kaca, jadi transformasi sistem pangan sangat penting untuk menangani perubahan iklim,\u201d ujar Fergus Sinclair, Ilmuwan Senior CIFOR-ICRAF dalam presentasi virtual.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Agroecological approaches to the use of nutrients and the maintenance of soil health\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QNvHu2VdRuU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nitrogen yang digunakan dalam produksi pangan menyumbang sekitar 2 persen dari seluruh emisi antropogenik dan 5-8 persen emisi sistem pangan, imbuh beliau. Kombinasi perubahan iklim, dampak limpasan nitrogen terhadap ekosistem perairan, dan kenaikan tajam harga pupuk akibat perang di Ukraina menunjukkan bagaimana ketergantungan pada pupuk industri dapat menyebabkan kerawanan pangan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cModel industri yang menyediakan nitrogen untuk tanaman itu tidak berkelanjutan,\u201d katanya, seraya menambahkan bahwa ada alternatif dari praktik agroekologi yang telah dilaksanakan di beberapa negara.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cDalam 12 bulan terakhir, banyak bukti baru yang dipublikasikan yang menunjukkan bahwa kita dapat mempertahankan produktivitas tanpa menggunakan pupuk nitrogen, di antaranya melalui sistem diversifikasi tanam dan menggunakan kacang-kacangan sebagai alternatif pengganti nitrogen,\u201d jelas Sinclair, salah satu penyelenggara. Platform Kemitraan Transformatif tentang Pendekatan Agroekologi untuk Membangun Ketahanan Mata Pencaharian dan Bentang Alam, yang juga dikenal sebagai TPP Agroekologi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Terkait pendekatan agroekologi, kunci produktivitas tidak terletak pada pupuk sintetis, namun pada kesehatan tanah itu sendiri, menurut Marcos Lana dari Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Swedia, salah satu pembicara dalam workshop tersebut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTanah yang sehat adalah fondasi pertanian yang produktif dan berkelanjutan,\u201d kata Lana. \u201cMengelola kesehatan tanah memungkinkan petani untuk bekerja dengan lahan, bukan melawannya, untuk mengurangi erosi, memaksimalkan infiltrasi air, meningkatkan siklus unsur hara, meningkatkan efisiensi sistem secara keseluruhan, dan, pada akhirnya, meningkatkan ketahanannya.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pendekatan agroekologi untuk kesehatan tanah menggunakan sumber alami dan proses ekologis untuk menggantikan sintetis, termasuk melalui penggunaan kacang-kacangan yang mengikat nitrogen dalam tanah dan memanfaatkan kotoran hewan. Dengan meningkatkan jumlah bahan organik untuk memperbaiki struktur tanah, pendekatan ini dapat mengurangi kepadatan tanah, sehingga, memungkinkan tanah menyimpan lebih banyak unsur hara, serta meningkatkan keanekaragaman hayati dan aktivitasnya. Selain itu, pendekatan ini juga membuat tanah mampu menahan lebih banyak air, sehingga mengurangi limpasan air dan kehilangan unsur hara saat hujan, serta mengurangi kerentanan terhadap kekeringan, kata Lana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peserta lokakarya berbagi mengenai praktik-praktik mereka, termasuk melalui penanaman tanaman penutup tanah dan menggabungkan tanaman pangan dan pepohonan dalam sistem wanatani. Para peserta mencatat bahwa diversifikasi tanaman itu penting, begitu pula memilih benih yang sesuai dengan kondisi setempat dan menanam pada waktu yang tepat, kata Am\u00e9lie Steu, Koordinator Asosiasi <a href=\"https:\/\/agroecology-coalition.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Agroecology Coalition.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pendekatan yang menggabungkan ternak dan tanaman dengan memproduksi pupuk dari daur ulang kotoran merupakan salah satu karakteristik agroekologi. Namun, diperlukan penelitian mendalam untuk sistem \u2018sirkular\u2019 seperti ini, jelas Steu. Menurut peserta, konteks merupakan hal yang paling penting dalam pendekatan agroekologi, karena apa yang berhasil di satu area mungkin tidak cocok di area lain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Karakteristik ini menjadikan agroekologi studi yang memerlukan pengumpulan pengetahuan secara intensif, karena diperlukannya investigasi dan eksperimen untuk menentukan praktik yang paling sesuai dengan kondisi setempat. Hal ini menciptakan peluang bagi petani, penasihat, dan peneliti untuk bekerja sama mencari solusi terhadap tantangan yang dihadapi produsen, kata Steu. Kelompok seperti TPP Agroekologi, <em>Agroecology Coalition<\/em> dan <em>Agroecology Europe <\/em>mendukung pertukaran pengetahuan tentang praktik agroekologi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPetani konvensional kerap tidak sadar bahwa ada kesempatan untuk mengubah praktik mereka \u2013 itulah mengapa berbagi pengetahuan sangat penting,\u201d katanya.<\/p>\n\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peserta lokakarya juga mengemukakan perlunya lebih banyak penelitian, terutama studi jangka panjang. Transisi dari pertanian industri ke agroekologi, dan ditambah fakta bahwa menciptakan tanah sehat membutuhkan lebih banyak tenaga kerja dibandingkan sekadar menambahkan pupuk sintetis, praktik ini akan memakan waktu, kata Steu. Petani harus memantau tanah dan mencoba berbagai teknik untuk menemukan metode yang paling cocok bagi mereka \u2013 biasanya dengan sedikit atau tanpa akses terhadap kredit atau asuransi yang memberikan mereka <em>safety net. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dalam diskusi kelompok yang berlangsung saat workshop, para peserta mencatat bahwa agroekologi bukan hanya sekedar metode bertani, namun ini adalah gerakan sosial. Hal ini tidak hanya memberikan kesempatan bagi petani dan ilmuwan untuk bekerja sama dan berbagi pengetahuan, namun juga mendorong pertemuan antar petani dan sering kali mendekatkan petani dan konsumen melalui pertanian yang didukung masyarakat atau inisiatif lainnya.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dengan menyerahkan sarana untuk mengembangkan tanah yang sehat di tangan petani, tanpa memerlukan produk industri, agroekologi \u201cmemberdayakan petani, namun hal ini jauh lebih kompleks,\u201d kata Sinclair.
