Akibat campur tangan manusia dalam kerusakan lingkungan, maka terbentuk jalur penyebaran penyakit antar spesies yang belum pernah ada sebelumnya.<\/p>\n<p>Riset terbaru memberi <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1038\/s41591-020-0820-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">indikasi<\/a> COVID-19 hampir pasti ditularkan oleh trenggiling atau kelelawar ke manusia dari sebuah pasar di Wuhan, Cina.<\/p>\n<p>Ada bukti lain menunjukkan perdagangan satwa liar berisiko menyebarkan patogen dan penyakit menular, dan kebiasaan konsumsi manusia sedikit banyak berpengaruh dalam hal ini.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDi seluruh dunia, hubungan antara pemenuhan pangan dan hilangnya keanekaragaman hayati cenderung dikaitkan dengan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/3\/a-i7846e.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">pola makan yang tidak<\/a> sehat,\u201d ujar seorang ilmuwan rekanan senior di Pusat Penelitian Kehutanan Internasional (CIFOR) dalam <a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/how-our-food-choices-cut-into-forests-and-put-us-closer-to-viruses-144472\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">artikel<\/a> terbaru di <em>The Conversation<\/em> yang merujuk pada produksi makanan pokok seperti beras, gandum, dan jagung.<\/p>\n<p>Sejak paruh kedua di abad ke-20, intensifikasi pertanian telah menjadi metode yang dominan untuk menghasilkan pangan dalam jumlah banyak. Beberapa tujuannya yaitu meningkatkan hasil tanaman pokok dan produksi daging sapi dalam skala besar.<\/p>\n\n<p>Namun, proses transisi ke produksi pangan intensif yang bergantung pada beberapa spesies tanaman dan ternak dinilai gagal dalam mengatasi malnutrisi di seluruh dunia, tulis Terry Sunderland, yang juga profesor di <a href=\"https:\/\/forestry.ubc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Fakultas Kehutanan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Universitas British Columbia Kanada<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTerdapat hampir 800 juta orang tidur dalam keadaan lapar, sepertiganya mengalami kekurangan gizi, dan 2 miliar orang menderita defisiensi mikronutrien yang berdampak pada masalah kesehatan seperti <em>stunting<\/em> (bertumbuh pendek) dan <em>wasting<\/em> (bertubuh kurus),\u201d tulisnya.<\/p>\n<p>Sunderland menambahkan intensifikasi pertanian dengan dampak deforestasi dan degradasi bentang alam dapat menimbulkan penyebaran berbagai penyakit zoonotik mematikan seperti SARS, MERS, H1N1, Chikungunya, Zika, dan Ebola.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSektor pertanian bertanggung jawab atas 30 persen emisi gas rumah kaca, erosi tanah, penggunaan air yang berlebihan, hilangnya spesies penyerbuk penting, polusi kimia, serta dampak lain-lain,\u201d katanya.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaat ini, sekitar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.org\/10.1126\/sciadv.1500052\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">70 persen kawasan hutan global hanya berjarak beberapa kilometer dari tepi hutan<\/a>. . . dan merusak fungsi penyangga kehidupan yang disediakan oleh ekosistem hutan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKegiatan peternakan dalam skala besar dengan tipe genetik serupa di sepanjang perbatasan hutan dapat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/environment\/coronavirus-meat-animal-farming-pandemic-disease-wet-markets-a9505626.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">menjadi jalur bagi patogen<\/a> untuk bermutasi dan menular ke manusia.
