Ani Adiwinata Nawir, ilmuwan pada proyek riset Kanoppi di CIFOR, berbagi pengalaman tentang penelitian bentang alam bawah tanah ini. Ani menyoroti kelimpahan sumber daya air bawah tanah di ekosistem karst seraya menunjukkan kurang optimalnya pemanfaatan dalam membantu pertanian dan praktik agrogoresti intensif bagi masyarakat lokal.<\/p>\n<p>Riset ini dilaksanakan melalui <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldagroforestry.org\/project\/kanoppi2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Proyek Kanoppi<\/a>, sebuah proyek penelitian bersama antara CIFOR dan ICRAF yang didanai oleh ACIAR (Pusat Penelitian Pertanian Australia).<\/p>\n<p>Dari Afrika, Malesu Maimbo, Ketua Tim Unit Manajemen Air ICRAF berbagi informasi tentang pentingnya pengelolaan bentang alam menjaga keseimbangan antara fungsi daerah tangkapan air dan pertanian. Pepohonan menawarkan pilihan terbaik menyimpan dan memanfaatkan air hujan untuk menghasilkan produk hasil hutan seperti kayu, pakan ternak, buah, obat-obatan, dan pangan. Malesu juga menyoroti hubungan antara pohon, hutan dan air, terutama dalam meningkatkan panen air hujan \u2014 menyimpan lebih banyak air hujan di tanah \u2014 di seluruh benua Afrika, termasuk di Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, dan Niger.
