Bisnis sawit bernilai miliaran dolar AS memang merupakan agroindustri paling kontroversial di dunia. Industri ini ditandai dengan sejumlah kasus penggundulan hutan kaya spesies dan kaya karbon. Meski juga berkontribusi pada pengentasan kemiskinan di negara produsen.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia dan Malaysia merupakan dua negara produsen sawit terbesar dunia. Area perkebunan industrinya meningkat lebih dari empat kali lipat pada 1990 hingga 2015. Pada periode yang sama, peningkatan laju regional kehilangan hutan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/nclimate2277\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">menjadi salah satu yang tertinggi di dunia<\/a>. Penggundulan hutan disebabkan oleh sejumlah faktor \u2013 membangun perkebunan salah satunya. Pembangunan pabrik dan infrastruktur untuk ekstraksi dan transportasi sawit juga berdampak pada hutan.<\/p>\n<p>Versi terbaru <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cifor.org\/map\/atlas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Peta Deforestasi dan Perkebunan Industri di Kalimantan<\/a>, atau disebut Peta Kalimantan, yang diluncurkan pekan ini memungkinkan pengguna memverifikasi lokasi dan kepemilikan 467 pabrik sawit di Kalimantan, pulau yang dihuni Indonesia, Malaysia dan Brunei Darussalam. Peta ini mencakup alat baru <em>Analisis Pemanfaatan Lahan sekitar Pabrik<\/em>, untuk memverifikasi informasi lokasi pengolahan sawit, dan area terdeforestasi dalam radius 10 km, sebagaimana terdeteksi satelit setiap tahun.<\/p>\n<p>Alat baru ini dapat digunakan bersama dengan alat sebelumnya, <em>Analisis Pemanfaatan Lahan dalam Konsesi<\/em>, untuk melacak jejak pembudi daya sawit di hutan. Alat ini menghubungkan kehilangan hutan akibat perusahaan (luas hutan dikonversi perkebunan industri tiap tahun) yang dideteksi satelit tiap tahun dengan peta konsesi publik. Digabungkan, kedua alat ini sangat berguna, bagi para pembudi daya sawit, pedagang dan aparat pemerintah yang mulai ingin melacak rantai suplai pabrik dan perkebunan. Saat ini, pembeli juga mulai memfokuskan perhatian pada keterperiksaan pabrik, karena lokasi pabrik merupakan indikator yang baik dari perkiraan lokasi penyuplai mereka.<\/p>\n<p>Memahami lokasi pabrik dan perkebunan juga bermanfaat untuk lebih memahami dampak umum pembangunan sawit industri terhadap hutan hujan tropis.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"short-iframe--fullwidth\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.cifor.org\/map\/atlas\/?embed=1\" width=\"100%\" class=\"vh90\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text-center\">Peta Deforestasi dan Perkebunan Industri di Kalimantan: Klik &#039;Analyze Land Use Near Mills\u2019 untuk melihat tampilan baru.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><strong>TAMPILAN TAMBAHAN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Melalui peta interaktif, pengguna dapat memperbesar radius 10 km tiap pabrik \u2013 jarak sawit segar dapat dibawa tanpa berjatuhan. Jarak sebenarnya buah sawit ke pabrik berbeda-beda, tergantung perjanjian komersial, jaringan dan medan jalan, dan bukan merupakan  sebuah lingkaran sempurna di seputar pabrik.<\/p>\n<p>Namun, tampilan yang disederhanakan ini memberi pandangan lebih utuh terkait dampak industri terhadap hutan. Pengguna dapat memeringkat konsesi dan pabrik berdasar penebangan, dan mengakses statistik kesehatan hutan dan pemanfaatan lahan. Mereka juga dapat memvisualisasikan performa terburuk dan terbaik pabrik serta konsesi berdasarkan perusahaan, jenis tanah (gambut dan non-gambut), area hutan tersisa, dan jenis sertifikasi.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Tutorial: How to analyze land use near palm-oil mills\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6wL5k_tA7Gs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Gagasannya, peta ini memberi peluang menginvestigasi lingkup penebangan hutan oleh perusahaan perkebunan di Kalimantan, dan lingkup hutan yang terselamatkan dengan menanam di lahan tak-berhutan. Memahami perusahaan mana yang menerapkan penanaman berkelanjutan adalah kunci perusahaan dalam melibatkan dan mempromosikan aksi positif.<\/p>\n<p>Kami mengembangkan kumpulan data ini dengan mengkaji dokumentasi daring dari data perusahaan, situs web LSM, lembaga sertifikasi (RSPO dan ISPO), situs web pemetaan dan media sosial. Dokumen sumber data ini ditautkan dengan hasil tiap pencarian, agar dapat dikonsultasikan dengan pengguna. Lebih lengkap mengenai pabrik bersertifikat RSPO ini dapat ditemukan di Peta Kalimantan yang telah diperbarui.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><strong>ISU BERSKALA INDUSTRI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sawit diproduksi untuk industri, mulai dari kosmetik hingga makanan olahan, dan biofuel untuk mobil. Proses ini memerlukan infrastruktur besar, termasuk pabrik pemrosesan dan pemurnian. Pada akhirnya kapal tanker raksasa mengantar minyak sawit ke seluruh penjuru dunia.<\/p>\n<p>Sawit bukan satu-satunya tanaman industrial. Saat ini, sebagian besar produksi pangan dunia dan suplainya dilakukan dengan cara-cara industrial. Pertanian industrial adalah sebuah sistem produksi pangan yang padat-kimia, monokultur dan fasilitas produksi raksasa yang dikendalikan konglomerasi besar.<\/p>\n<p>Budidaya monokultur intensif menipiskan tanah dan membuat tanah rentan erosi. Herbisida dan insektisidanya mengancam alam liar dan manusia. Keragaman hayati di dalam dan di dekat ladang monokultur terbentur, bersama dengan turunnya populasi burung dan serangga berguna. Menurut sebuah <a href=\"http:\/\/journals.plos.org\/plosone\/article?id=10.1371\/journal.pone.0185809\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">penelitian terbaru<\/a>, serangga terbang menyusut drastis sebanyak tiga-perempatnya dalam 25 tahun terakhir di desa-desa Eropa.<\/p>\n<div class='short-quote'>\n\t\t\t<blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t<p><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<footer>\n\t\t\t\t\t<cite title='Source Title'><\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t<\/footer>\n\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Di wilayah tropis lembap, produksi industri sawit, kedelai, kayu kertas dan sapi merusak keragaman hayati, dan bertanggung jawab atas kehilangan antara 35% dan 68% hutan tropis.<\/p>\n<p>Laju kehilangan hutan dan pembangunan sawit sangat kentara di Kalimantan. Rata-rata kehilangan hutan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cifor.org\/library\/6552\/what-a-difference-4-decades-make-deforestation-in-borneo-since-1973\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">350.000 hektare tiap tahun<\/a> dari 2001 hingga 2016, sementara pada 2016 luas perkebunan sawit industrial mencapai 8,3 juta hektare (Jha) \u2014 sekitar separuh dari estimasi luas area penanaman global 18 Jha.
