Dr. Nasi bukanlah pendatang baru di CIFOR. Ia telah bersama CIFOR selama lebih dari 20 tahun dengan berbagai penelitian dan peran manajemen senior. Terakhir ia menjabat Deputi Direktur Jenderal bidang Penelitian. Dalam perbincangan dengan Kabar Hutan, ia menceritakan berpuluh tahun pengalamannya di CIFOR dan penelitian hutan tropis, sekaligus memetakan rencana masa depan.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Saksikan wawancara penuhnya <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=X6XT4zToykc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><u>di sini<\/u><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Selamat pagi, Robert. Anda telah meneliti hutan tropis selama lebih dari tiga dekade. Kondisinya mungkin terlihat sangat berbeda. Perubahan apa yang telah terjadi?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bukan hutan yang terlihat berbeda, cara kita melihat hutan lah yang berbeda. Hutan, dalam hal ini hutan tua, hutan primer, mungkin sudah berkurang dalam 30 tahun terakhir. Hutan sekunder lebih banyak. Namun, lebih pada cara masyarakat melihat hutan lah yang berubah. Di awal karir saya, hutan masih dipandang sebagai penghasil kayu dan barang lainnya, dan kini kita mengalami perubahan cara pandang pada jasa ekosistem, simpanan karbon, air, keragaman hayati. Jadi menurut saya, ini lebih pada pandangan sosial dan tuntutan pada hutan yang berubah, bukan hutannya itu sendiri.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anda selalu tertarik pada keragaman hayati, dan saat ini, hutan menyimpan sekitar 50 persen keragaman hayati. Apa yang seharusnya menjadi prioritas ilmuwan dan peneliti? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Saya pikir ada dua prioritas. Pertama, kita perlu menjaga sebanyak mungkin wilayah hutan yang masih tegak, yang belum tersentuh \u2013 dan belum tersentuh di sini tidak berarti tidak ada orang di dalamnya, atau masyarakat tidak memanfaatkannya, namun bahwa kita seharusnya menghindari untuk mengeksploitasinya dan mencoba menjaganya sebaik mungkin. Namun demikian, yang lebih penting lagi, kita seharusnya mengakui peran hutan sekunder dalam keragaman hayati. Jelas masih besar keragaman hayati dalam hutan sekunder dibanding perkebunan sawit. Saya pikir ini hal penting karena sudah terlalu sering, masyarakat cenderung memandang hutan sekunder sebagai \u2018terdegradasi\u2019. Dan karena terdegradasi, kita dapat mengubahnya menjadi sawit, ladang gembala atau perkebunan karet. Saya pikir ini sangat penting, karena kini wilayah hutan sekunder lebih besar dibanding hutan primer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dapatkah diceritakan bagaimana strategi dan prioritas CIFOR berubah sejak Anda di sini?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CIFOR dibentuk pada 1993, dan saat itu hanya ada enam orang. Pada awalnya, CIFOR dibentuk berlandaskan gagasan bahwa masalah utamanya bukan masalah teknis, tetapi masalah kebijakan dan manusia. CIFOR dibangun berdasar gagasan ini, kita harus benar-benar melihat pada kebijakan yang berpengaruh terhadap cara hutan dikelola.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cifor.org\/library\/109\/cifors-strategy-for-collaborative-forestry-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Strategi pertama CIFOR <\/a>dikembangkan pada 1996. Strategi pertama ini  terutama dikembangkan untuk melanjutkan gagasan awal melakukan penelitian masalah-masalah kehutanan, namun kehutanan dalam perspektif yang relatif sempit, serta mengenai kebijakan yang mempengaruhi hutan. Saat itu, kita juga punya keterbatasan meneliti wilayah tropis basah, dan tropis kering, area Miombo Zambesian. Itulah strategi pertama. Perubahan terjadi. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cifor.org\/library\/2499\/cifors-strategy-2008-2018-making-a-difference-for-forests-and-people\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Pada 2008, disusun strategi baru <\/a>yang lebih fokus pada agenda perubahan iklim, hingga pentingnya mitigasi dan adaptasi. Dari sini mulailah konsep kehutanan yang lebih luas.<\/p>\n<p>Dan kini, kita punya <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cifor.org\/library\/5959\/cifor-strategy-2016-2025-stepping-up-to-the-new-climate-and-development-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">strategi baru untuk 2016-2025<\/a>, yang benar-benar menempatkan kehutanan sebagai inti dalam mencapai Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan. Kita bergerak menuju sesuatu yang berbeda, dari semacam organisasi kehutanan klasik, meski tetap sangat fokus pada hutan, untuk menuju jawaban lebih luas atas pertanyaan dari Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apa prioritas Anda dalam memajukan CIFOR?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Salah satu prioritas segera saat ini adalah memastikan gelaran <a href=\"http:\/\/www.landscapes.org\/glf-bonn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">GLF di Bonn<\/a> pada Desember berlangsung sukses, dan berdialog dengan para staf untuk mendapatkan masukan mengenai apa yang seharusnya dilakukan, dan apa yang perlu dilakukan. Kita juga akan melangsungkan pertemuan Dewan Penyantun pada November \u2013 semua ini merupakan prioritas segera.<\/p>\n<p>Prioritas jangka lebih panjang saya adalah benar-benar menempatkan CIFOR pada trayektori pertumbuhan, dan memastikan bahwa kita terus menghasilkan penelitian yang relevan, peningkatan kapasitas, penjangkauan dan pelibatan, untuk mengubah persepsi hutan dan kehutanan, dan, terutama, membuat dunia menjadi tempat yang lebih baik. Forum Bentang Alam Global (GLF), yang dipimpin CIFOR, baru saja menerima pendanaan untuk lima tahun pertama dari Pemerintah Jerman.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bagaimana Anda melihat perjalanan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.landscapes.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">GLF<\/a>, dan bagaimana Forum ini dapat membuat perubahan?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Forum ini tidak terjadi begitu saja, tetapi hasil dari evolusi panjang sejak <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cifor.org\/publications\/pdf_files\/news-45.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Hari Hutan<\/a>, hingga apa yang kita sebut \u2018titisan\u2019 pertama Forum Bentang Alam Global. Dan kini kita bergerak menuju sesuatu yang lebih dari baik, kita punya acara penting tiap tahun, tetapi lebih dari itu, saya pikir, adalah terbentuknya sebuah wahana. Tujuan besar Forum Bentang Alam Global \u2018menjangkau satu miliar\u2019, benar-benar merupakan perubahan transformasional dalam cara kita memahami bentang alam, dan memanfaatkan sumber daya yang terkait pada bentang alam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luar biasa.
