Lahan gambut kering atau teregradasi sangat mudah terbakar akibat tingginya kandungan karbon. Lahan ini seringkali dibakar oleh perusahaan dan perorangan untuk membuka perkebunan sawit yang lebih menguntungkan. Prior to this role, she was the Director of Communications for Danone\u2019s CSR fund Livelihoods working on topics concerning sustainable agriculture and greening supply chains. She previously worked as a print and TV journalist in Paris, France for leading international media including BusinessWeek, Reuters and the French international news channel France 24. Originally from New York, Leona holds a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Broadcast Journalism and French from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a Master\u2019s degree in international affairs from l\u2019Institut des Etudes des Sciences Politiques (Sciences Po Paris).
