Jika kita ingin menemukan solusi berkelanjutan dalam menghadapi perubahan iklim, kita perlu melihat gambaran lebih besar.<\/p>\n

Dan dalam gambar tersebut, perubahan iklim \u2013 serta emisi karbon \u2013 bukan segalanya. Bukan pula keragaman hayati, air, hutan, pertanian atau habitat pesisir dan laut, jender atau komunitas, pendidikan, kemiskinan dan bukan pula ketidakadilan, atau energi. Dalam gambaran besar tersebut, semuanya penting.<\/p>\n

Pernyataan ini tidak lantas membuat saya harus digolongkan menjadi orang yang skeptis, sinis, atau anti-iklim. Jauh dari itu. Tetapi, ketika dunia bertemu pada COP22 di Marrakesh, setahun setelah Perjanjian Paris, jelas bagi saya bahwa jika kita ingin mencapai Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDG) dan mencapai target iklim, kita perlu menemukan cara baru.<\/p>\n

Kecenderungan umum, modus operandi pembangunan adalah bergerak secara sektoral, atau dalam sekat disiplin kita, organisasi kita, kementerian kita dan sektor kita sendiri. Semua kita bekerja mengejar target kesuksesan kita sendiri.<\/p>\n

Kementerian pertanian diperintahkan meningkatkan produksi tanaman tertentu, dan jika mereka harus membersihkan 25 persen hutan nasional beserta seluruh keragaman hayati di dalamnya, mengusir kelompok adat, ya dilakukan saja. Perubahan iklim \u2013 biarkan itu urusan Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup. Para aktivis dan organisasi non-pemerintah pun sering sangat sektoral juga \u2013 fokus pada masalah tunggal dan kurang memperhatikan relevansi dengan yang lain. Ini harus berubah.<\/p>\n

Kita perlu melihat setiap SDG dalam konteksnya satu sama lain, dan melakukan pendekatan sebagai satu bagian besar. Kita perlu merobohkan dinding pemisah sektoral, karena hal ini tidak mewakili kondisi asli di lapangan manapun. Di dunia nyata, yang ada adalah bentang alam luas dalam pertarungan berbagai kepentingan, kebutuhan, tujuan dan target.<\/p>\n

Mencari jalan keluar secara holistik adalah jantung dari apa yang kita kenal sebagai pendekatan bentang alam dan gerakan global yang muncul menyertainya. Sudah seharusnya terminologi ini dipahami hingga ke luar lingkaran pembangunan, karena setiap rentang tanah atau laut yang disentuh manusia membentuk jutaan bentang alam di planet kita.<\/p>\n

Pendekatan ini bukan semacam resep yang kaku. Bukan pendekatan atas-ke-bawah. Pendekatan ini merengkuh kompromi. Menerima bahwa dalam setiap pertentangan cara mengelola sumber daya, selalu ada kebutuhan jalan tengah antara berbagai tuntutan \u2013 petani skala kecil, agrobisnis besar, perjanjian internasional, pemerintah pusat dan daerah, serta para konservasionis.<\/p>\n

Tujuannya adalah menemukan beragam manfaat terukur dari setiap aksi dan investasi di bentang alam \u2013 pangan lebih banyak, pemasukan lebih besar, keadilan lebih terjaga, dan lingkungan yang sehat. Pendekatan ini memegang asumsi bahwa akan ada timbal balik, tidak ada pemenang mutlak dan tidak ada yang pula yang mutlak terkalahkan.<\/p>\n

Masuk ke Forum Bentang Alam Global<\/a>. Tiga tahun lalu, sekelompok kecil organisasi, meliputi Bank dunia, Program Lingkungan PBB, bersama organisasi saya, Pusat Penelitian Kehutanan Internasional, <\/em>membentuk wahana untuk mengusung pesan pertemuan perubahan iklim PBB yang menyatakan bahwa setiap sektor dan disiplin harus terhubung, melalui perspektif pendekatan bentang alam, agenda iklim dan SDG 2015.<\/p>\n

Terhitung hari ini, GLF mulai menjalani hidup mandiri. Tahun lalu, lebih dari 3.000 orang dari 105 negara \u2013 setiap partisipan, mulai dari Gubernur Kalifornia Jerry Brown hingga kepala suku dari Borneo \u2013 bergabung dengan kami di Paris. Dan pertemuan keenam digelar di Marrakesh, 16 November.<\/p>\n

GLF bertumbuh menjadi komunitas global yang terdiri dari ratusan organisasi, ribuan orang dari berbagai kalangan, mencakup ilmuwan, pengacara, banker, tokoh adat dan tokoh masyarakat, petani dan rimbawan, personil LSM, jurnalis dan pengambil keputusan, yang secara aktif berbagi pengalaman, penelitian, inisiatif dan pengetahuan. Singkatnya, kita telah menciptakan perbincangan global dalam membangun bentang alam berkelanjutan yang mengubah cara kita berpikir, berhubungan dan bertindak.<\/p>\n

Kita telah menerima ikrar restorasi 148 juta hektare lahan terdegradasi dari berbagai negara. Target berikutnya adalah mendorongnya menjadi 400 juta hektare \u2013 dan merancang rencana aksi yang diperlukan dalam implementasi dan pengukurannya.<\/p>\n

Kami memiliki visi jauh menjangkau lebih luas dari masyarakat ahli, menghubungkan dan menginspirasi satu miliar orang untuk bergabung dengan kami pada 2020. Kami yakin hal ini penting, tidak hanya sekadar merangkai ulang agenda iklim dan pembangunan, tetapi untuk membangun dunia berkelanjutan, lebih sejahtera dan lebih berkeadilan.<\/p>\n\n

Under his leadership, CIFOR updated its strategy in 2016, emphasizing the role of forestry in achieving each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Dr. Holmgren has a PhD in Forestry and 26 years of experience in international forestry and agriculture. Prior to CIFOR, Dr. Holmgren worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), where he led FAO\u2019s work on climate change and its contributions to the UNFCCC process. While at FAO he also coordinated the Global Forest Resources Assessment, played a leading role in establishing the UN-REDD program and led the development of the Climate Smart Agriculture concept. Dr. Holmgren is credited for leading the dialogue to enhance and broaden the role of forestry in the Global Development Agenda to address the major challenges of our time: poverty, food security, climate change and green economy.
