{"id":42091,"date":"2016-06-28T16:01:51","date_gmt":"2016-06-28T09:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/?p=42091"},"modified":"2018-02-07T15:20:39","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T08:20:39","slug":"dari-darat-dan-angkasa-memahami-dampak-kebakaran-hutan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/id\/42091\/dari-darat-dan-angkasa-memahami-dampak-kebakaran-hutan","title":{"rendered":"Dari darat dan angkasa, memahami dampak kebakaran hutan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ketika api berkecamuk di sebuah petak lahan gambut di luar Palangka Raya, Kalimantan Tengah, Oktober 2015,  sekelompok ilmuwan mengikuti arah angin, mengukur gas-gas apa saja yang terlepas ke udara.<\/p>\n<p>Semenara kelompok ilmuwan tersebut bekerja di tengah lahan berasap, satelit yang mengorbit di luar bumi mencatat informasi detil \u2013 kekuatan api dan karbon di atmosfer.<\/p>\n<p>Kombinasi pendekatan unik dan hasil penghitungan mewujud dalam <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/srep26886\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">penelitian<\/a> pionir yang baru-baru ini dipublikasikan dalam <em>Scientific Reports<\/em> \u2013 pertama kalinya  dalam menentukan emisi gas rumah kaca dari kebakaran 2015 di maritim Asia Tenggara. Para penulis laporan menemukan bahwa emisi karbon yang terlepas akibat kebakaran September dan Oktober 2015 sebesar 11,3 juta ton per hari, lebih tinggi daripada emisi seluruh Uni Eropa, yang tiap harinya melepaskan 8,9 juta ton pada periode yang sama.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mulai dari bawah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meluasnya <a href=\"\/\/www.cifor.org\/fire-and-haze\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">bentang kebakaran<\/a> di sebagian Kalimantan, Sumatra dan Papua tahun lalu menimbulkan asap dan kabut berbahaya yang mempengaruhi jutaan orang \u2013 sekaligus memicu perhatian internasional \u2013 dan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/36476\/where-theres-smoke-theres-toxic-gas?fnl=en\">tim di lapangan<\/a> adalah yang pertama kali menilai emisi dari kebakaran aktif lahan gambut.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cAda beberapa penelitian terisolasi sebelumnya, ketika orang secara artifisial membuat kebakaran di lab untuk memahami karakteristik kimia asap kebakaran lahan gambut di Indonesia. Tetapi tidak seorang pun melakukannya di kebakaran alami, dan khususnya seperti kebakaran ekstrim yang terjadi pada 2015. Kami adalah orang pertama yang melakukannya,\u201d kata profesor Akademi Kerajaan London (King\u2019s College London), Martin J. Wooster, salah seorang pimpinan penulisan penelitian ini.<\/p>\n<p>Tim ini memanfaatkan pengukuran asap kebakaran gambut di lapangan untuk mendapatkan faktor emisi, untuk memahami berapa banyak karbon dioksida, karbon monoksida dan metana yang terlepas dari sejumlah tertentu kebakaran gambut tropis.<\/p>\n<p>Satelit memberi data keluaran panas yang terradiasi kebakaran, selain informasi jumlah karbon monoksida yang terdapat di atmosfer sekitarnya. Dari data ini, emisi karbon total ditetapkan dengan menggabungkan pengukuran satelit dan kerangka pemodelan <a href=\"https:\/\/atmosphere.copernicus.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS)<\/a> dengan faktor emisi baru dari kebakaran di sekitar Palangka Raya \u2013 salah satu daerah terparah.<\/p>\n<p>Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa 884 juta ton karbon dioksida dilepaskan di wilaya terebut taun lalu \u2013 97% berasal dari <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/37012\/watch-indonesia-on-fire?fnl=en\">kebakaran di Indonesia<\/a>. Emisi karbon terkait sebesar 289 juta ton, dan emisi karbon dioksida ekuivalen sebesar 1,2 miliar ton.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dari orbit angkasa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Karya luar biasa ini terbangun dari penelitian berpuluh tahun menyusul kebakaran besar di wilayah ini pada 1997 (salah satu tahun El Nino adalah 2015) dan inovasi teknologi seperti kerangka kerja CAMS, yang dapat dengan tegas dan akurat menjejak kebakaran dan membuat penilaian dampak atmosfer, dan memberi data secara leluasa.<\/p>\n<div class='short-image short-image--left'>\n\t\t\t\t<a class='fancybox-image GTMshortImage' href='' target='_self'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__thumb'>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img src='' width='260'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__type'><h3><\/h3><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__title'><h4><\/h4><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\u201cPemodelan jenis ini baru ada pada akhir-akhir ini saja. Ketika kami melihat kebakaran mulai terjadi di wilayah ini \u2013 dan mengenali bahwa ini tahun El Nino \u2013 kami bisa dengan cepat mulai menganalisa situasi, dan kami mulai mengontak pihak yang bisa berkontribusi,\u201d kata kepala penelitian Vincent Huijnen dari Institut Meteorologi Kerajaan Belanda (Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute), yang bekerja menggunakan kerangka CAMS.<\/p>\n<p>Wooster sepakat mengenai kejernihan penghitungan mereka berkat teknologi baru.<\/p>\n<p>Ia menyatakan, \u201cKami menemukan bahwa ini adalah kejadian kebakaran tunggal terbesar dalam hal emisi karbon dari Indonesia sejak 1997. Kami bisa lebih yakin terhadap penghitungan kami karena satelit, pemodelan dan teknologi instrumen lapangan baru yang kini tersedia dibanding 20 tahun lalu.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gambut dan El Nino<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Membandingkan temuan mereka dengan kejadian \u201cmega\u201d kebakaran masa lalu membantu memperjelas perubahan bentang alam di wilayah ini dan perubahan komposisi emisi, secara tepat pada tiga-perempat kebakaran pada 2015 di lahan gambut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKonversi lahan gambut tetap merupakan sumber potensial gas rumah kaca, khususnya ketika kebakaran terjadi dan ketika terkait dengan kekeringan panjan dalam tahun El Nino. Juga penting untuk melindungi lahan gambut karena merupakan penyimpan besar karbon, dan Kalimantan memiliki 50 persen cadangan gambut dunia,\u201d kata ilmuwan <a href=\"\/\/www.cifor.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CIFOR<\/a> dan anggota penulis, Daniel Murdiyarso.<\/p>\n<p>Bagi David Gaveau, ilmuwan CIFOR lain sekaligus anggota penulis penelitian, kebakaran 2015 berbeda karena terutama terjadi pada lahan gambut kering terlantar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPada 1997 kekeringan terjadi lebih panjang, kebakaran lebih parah dan banyak hutan terbakar. Pada 2015, api terutama membakar lahan gambut terdegradasi yang tertutup semak dan bangkai kayu,\u201d katanya.<\/p>\n<div class='short-image short-image--left'>\n\t\t\t\t<a class='fancybox-image GTMshortImage' href='' target='_self'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__thumb'>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img src='' width='260'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__type'><h3><\/h3><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__title'><h4><\/h4><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>El Nino, bentang alam dan lahan gambut terdegradasi menjadi penyebab cerita kebakaran 2015, dan temuan emisi tim menjadi kejutan, karena pertama kalinya memahamkan apa yang dilepas ke atmosfer dari kebakaran yang terjadi di gambut tropis unik di wilayah ini.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTahun lalu telah memperlihatkan peningkatan karbon dioksida atmosfer tunggal terbesar sejak pencatatan dimulai pada 1950-an, dan kami menghitung bahwa kebakaran di Indonesia membentuk komponen peningkatan signifikan dari apa yang disebut tahun El Nino \u2018normal\u2019,\u201d kata Wooster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hari-hari kurang berasap<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dampak karya ini, ironisnya, sulit untuk dihitung karena implikasinya besar.<\/p>\n<p>Bagi Huijnen, penelitian ini berkontribusi pada debat lebih luas mengenai perubahan iklim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPengukuran karbon dioksida di atmosfer dan atribusi perubahan pada beragam sumber, anda  tahu berapa besar antroprogenik murni, atau induksi manusia,\u201d katanya.<\/p>\n<p>Dan dengan penyebab antropogenik muncullah efek antropogenik yang berdampak pada jutaan manusia.<\/p>\n<div class='short-quote'>\n\t\t\t<blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t<p><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<footer>\n\t\t\t\t\t<cite title='Source Title'><\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t<\/footer>\n\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Bagi Murdiyarso, kebijakan yang baik adalah kuncinya \u2013 dan menyodorkan angka terkait kebakaran 2015 bisa membantu.
