Pada skenario kenaikan air laut tinggi, mangrove tidak dapat bertahan hingga akhir abad ini, dengan tingkat kerentanan tertinggi pada mangrove di wilayah kepulauan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVegetasi lahan basah pesisir seperti hutan mangrove memberi beragam jasa lingkungan, yang kini terancam kenaikan permukaan air laut, selain ancaman nyata pertanian dan pembangunan pesisir,\u201d kata Sigit D. Sasmito, peneliti muda Pusat Penelitian Kehutanan Internasional (CIFOR).<\/p>\n<div class='short-image short-image--left'>\n\t\t\t\t<a class='fancybox-image GTMshortImage' href='' target='_self'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__thumb'>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img src='' width='260'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__type'><h3><\/h3><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='short-image__title'><h4><\/h4><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Bersama dengan peneliti CIFOR lain, Daniel Murdiyarso, Sofyan Kurnianto, serta Daniel A. Friess dari National University of Singapore, Sigit melakukan kajian sistematis global dalam upaya menjawab pertanyaan, mampukah mangrove berpacu dengan kenaikan permukaan laut saat ini. Kajian ini diterbitkan dalam jurnal ilmiah internasional Wetlands Ecology and Management.<\/p>\n\n<p>Mereka mengumpulkan data penelitian mengenai perubahan tinggi permukaan (<em>surface elevation change<\/em>\/SEC) dan laju pertambahan sedimen (<em>surface accretion rate<\/em>\/SAR) dari seluruh ekosistem mangrove dunia. Hasil tersebut kemudian dibandingkan dengan skenario kenaikan permukaan laut (<em>sea level rise<\/em>\/SLR) dalam Laporan Penilaian Kelima Panel Perubahan Iklim Antar-pemerintah (<u>IPCC AR5<\/u>).<\/p>\n<p>Dalam IPCC AR5, dinyatakan permukaan laut rata-rata global diproyeksikan meninggi antara 0,52 dan 0,98 m pada 2100 dalam beberapa skenario <em>Representative Concentration Pathway<\/em> (RCP), yaitu RCP 2.6 dan RCP 8.5. \u201cKami menemukan baik tipe mangrove  interior maupun mangrove tepian (<em>fringe<\/em>) mampu mengatasi skenario RCP 2.6 selama 100 tahun ke depan melalui laju sedimentasi pada kondisi normal. Namun, untuk skenario RCP 8.5, mangrove interior hanya mampu bertahan hingga 2070 dan mangrove tepian hanya bertahan sampai 2055,\u201d paparnya.<\/p>\n<div class='short-quote'>\n\t\t\t<blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t<p><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<footer>\n\t\t\t\t\t<cite title='Source Title'><\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t<\/footer>\n\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Kerentanan ekosistem mangrove juga bergantung pada kondisi <em>hydro-geomorphic<\/em>, mangrove interior atau mangrove tepian. \u201cEkosistem mangrovetepian, yang dominan di lokasi kepulauan kecil seperti Karibia, Afrika Timur dan sebagian Indo-Pasifik termasuk Indonesia sulit mengimbangi skenario rendah atau tinggi kenaikan permukaan air laut,\u201d lanjut Sigit.<\/p>\n\n<p>Menurut kajian tersebut, ekosistem degradasi mapun upaya manajemen dalam skala kecil dapat secara langsung mempengaruhi resiliensi sistem mangrove terhadap kenaikan permukaan air laut. Degradasi mangrove menurukan resiliensi, sebaliknya upaya tata kelola mangrove seperti rehabilitasi dan restorasi menstimulasi peningkatan permukaan.\u201d Mangrove adalah perangkap lumpur yang efektif dan senantiasa menyesuaikan dengan hidrologi dan pasang-surut air laut\u201d, ujar Murdiyarso.<\/p>\n\n<p>CIFOR melalui <a href=\"\/\/www.cifor.org\/swamp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Sustainable Wetlands Adaptation and Mitigation Program (SWAMP)<\/a> sedang melakukan observasi kerentanan mangrove terhadap kenaikan permukaan air laut di berbagai ekosistem mangrove di Indonesia. Para peneliti menggunakan metode<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nclimate\/journal\/v3\/n5\/full\/nclimate1756.html%3FWT.ec_id%3DNCLIMATE-201305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> Rod Surface Elevation Table dan Marker Horizon yang dikenal sebagai RSET-MH<\/a>. Melalui penelitian ini, perubahan elevasi permukaan tanah jangka panjang di hutan mangrove bisa dipantau.<\/p>\n<p>Para peneliti mendorong lebih ditingkatkannya penelitian dan komunikasi antar peneliti seluruh dunia untuk lebih memahami kerentanan mangrove terhadap kenaikan permukaan laut dan mengidentifikasi risiko di masa datang.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ekosistem mangrove di seluruh dunia terancam kenaikan permukaan air laut akibat perubahan iklim.
