Pembaca spektrometer.<\/p>\n<p>Ketika digabungkan dengan teknik kehutanan tradisional, pendekatan berteknologi tinggi ini bisa merombak cara kita memantau hutan, demikian diyakini para pakar.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan dampak perubahan iklim yang kian jelas, kemajuan pemantauan hutan menjadi penting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIPCC telah menetapkan lebih dari sekadar keraguan beralasan bahwa perubahan iklim terjadi dan ini akibat manusia,\u201d kata Christopher Martius, peneliti utama Pusat Penelitian kehutanan Internasional (CIFOR). \u201cArtinya bagi kita sekarang di CIFOR adalah bahwa kita berpikir mengenai bagaimana mengurangi emisi dari deforestasi dan degradasi hutan, karena kita tahu bahwa ini tanggungjawab 10 persen dan 25 persen keseluruhan emisi gas rumah kaca,\u201d katanya.<\/p>\n<p>Sebuah tim ilmuwan CIFOR, Universitas Wageningen dan Universitas Gottingen mengeksplorasi cara terbaik menggunakan peralatan ini untuk mendapatkan data hutan paling baru, akurat, terandalkan\u2014menguji instrumen yang baru tersedia atau dalam tahap maju pengembangannya.<\/p>\n<p>Pendekatan pemantauan hutan dikembangkan melalui pekerjaan ini bisa menjadi sangat vital bagi implementasi proyek <a href=\"\/\/www.cifor.org\/gcs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Reduksi Emisi dari Deforestasi dan Degradasi hutan<\/a> (REDD+). Agar negara menerima pembayaran karbon yang tersimpan dalam pohon, pertama mereka harus membuktikan telah memiliki sistem pemantauan hutan yang andal. Pendekatan baru ini bisa mengurangi biaya dan membuat hutan serta observasi karbon lebih efisien-biaya bagi negara-negara tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Bagaimana keberhasilan metode baru ini ketika diuji di rawa gambut?
