NEW YORK\u2014 Hasil Konferensi Tingkat Tinggi Iklim PBB menawarkan peluang mengarusutamakan pendekatan lebih holistik terhadap hutan, perubahan iklim dan pembangunan, kata Peter Holmgren, direktur jenderal Pusat Penelitian Kehutanan Internasional (CIFOR).<\/p>\n

Membuka \u201cKolokium mengenai Hutan dan Iklim,\u201d sebuah debat ilmiah tingkat tinggi di New York sehari setelah KTT, Holmgren menyebut kurangnya kelengkapan deklarasi KTT dalam mengatasi beragam aspek perubahan iklim. Pendekatan berbasis-sektoral, tegas Holmgren, dapat menghambat langkah maju memerangi perubahan iklim \u2013 sebagai masalah yang mencakup semua sektor.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgak mengejutkan ada beberapa rujukan silang antara deklarasi hutan dan deklarasi pertanian,\u201d katanya di depan 200 orang di Universitas Columbia. \u201cIni benar-benar membatasi pilihan kita\u201d untuk merengkuh perhatian terkait iklim, pembangunan dan sumber alam, katanya.<\/p>\n
