Pakta yang telah lama ditunggu ini mengakhiri enam tahun negosiasi rincian teknis rencana, dimaksudkan untuk membendung penebangan ilegal dengan menjamin hanya produk kayu legal yang diimpor oleh Uni Eropa dari Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Pakta ini menjadi \u201csatu dari sejumlah inisiatif yang dimaksudkan menangani beragam tingkat masalah dan tantangan utama tata kelola hutan di Indonesia,\u201d kata Andrew Wardell, Direktur Penelitian Hutan dan Tata Kelola, Pusat Penelitian Kehutanan Internasional (CIFOR). Baru-baru ini, Wardell memimpin diskusi panel dengan ilmuwan mitra CIFOR membahas perjanjian, yang disebutnya \u201cpencapaian besar,\u201d walaupun ia mengungkap kekhawatiran adanya keberatan dan kelemahan pakta.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia menjadi negara Asia pertama \u2013 dan juga negara pengekspor terbesar kayu \u2013 yang menandatangani <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euflegt.efi.int\/portal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">FLEGT-VPA<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euflegt.efi.int\/portal\/news\/focus_on_asia\/focus_on_indonesia?bid=213\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">demikian menurut UE<\/a>.
