Selon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/forest-resources-assessment\/past-assessments\/fra-2020\/en?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">L&rsquo;\u00e9valuation des ressources foresti\u00e8res mondiale 2020 de l&rsquo;Organisation des Nations Unies pour l&rsquo;alimentation et l&rsquo;agriculture<\/a>, plus de 600 millions d\u2019Africains d\u00e9pendent des for\u00eats et des arbres pour leur subsistance, notamment gr\u00e2ce aux cha\u00eenes de valeur du bois qui fournissent des emplois, de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie, des mat\u00e9riaux de construction et des revenus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le secteur soutient des industries telles que la fabrication de meubles, la production de papier, l\u2019emballage, les infrastructures de transport d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, le logement et la construction. Dans les zones rurales, les syst\u00e8mes bas\u00e9s sur les arbres et le bois fournissent \u00e9galement de l\u2019\u00e9nergie et des revenus, constituant un pilier essentiel de la survie des m\u00e9nages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avec la croissance d\u00e9mographique et l\u2019urbanisation acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9e, la demande en produits du bois augmente rapidement, cr\u00e9ant \u00e0 la fois des opportunit\u00e9s et des d\u00e9fis pour le d\u00e9veloppement durable. A wooden satellite in space?<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au c\u0153ur de cette opportunit\u00e9 se trouve le concept de bio\u00e9conomie r\u00e9siliente bas\u00e9e sur le bois : une approche qui utilise de mani\u00e8re durable des ressources biologiques renouvelables telles que le bois et les produits forestiers pour produire des mat\u00e9riaux, de l\u2019\u00e9nergie et des services tout en pr\u00e9servant la sant\u00e9 des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cette approche est d\u2019autant plus importante que l\u2019Afrique fait face \u00e0 des pressions croissantes li\u00e9es au changement climatique, \u00e0 la perte de biodiversit\u00e9, \u00e0 la d\u00e9gradation des terres et \u00e0 la hausse de la demande en produits forestiers. La demande englobe aussi bien les produits transform\u00e9s \u00e0 valeur ajout\u00e9e que le bois-\u00e9nergie. Le rapport du <a href=\"https:\/\/afforum.org\/publications\/the-role-of-forests-and-trees-in-africas-economic-development\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forum Forestier Africain sur le r\u00f4le des for\u00eats et des arbres dans le d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de l&rsquo;Afrique <\/a><em>\u202f<\/em>estime que le continent consomme chaque ann\u00e9e environ <strong>100 millions de m\u00e8tres cubes de produits du bois \u00e0 valeur ajout\u00e9e<\/strong>, notamment du bois d\u2019\u0153uvre, des meubles, des poteaux, des produits papetiers et des mat\u00e9riaux de construction. Le <strong>bois-\u00e9nergie<\/strong>, principalement sous forme de bois de chauffe et de charbon de bois, demeure la principale source d\u2019\u00e9nergie domestique pour des millions de personnes, aussi bien dans les zones rurales que dans les zones urbaines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selon le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/africa-energy-outlook-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rapport Africa Energy Outlook 2023<\/a> de l&rsquo;agence internationale de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie, la biomasse repr\u00e9sente environ 70 \u00e0 80 % de la consommation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique des m\u00e9nages en Afrique subsaharienne, ce qui souligne l\u2019importance persistante des syst\u00e8mes \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques bas\u00e9s sur le bois. Cette demande est satisfaite par les for\u00eats naturelles, les plantations foresti\u00e8res et, de plus en plus, par les arbres cultiv\u00e9s dans les exploitations agricoles \u00e0 travers les syst\u00e8mes agroforestiers. Toutefois, les for\u00eats naturelles continuent de fournir une part importante de l\u2019approvisionnement en bois, exer\u00e7ant ainsi une pression sur des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes fragiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans de nombreux pays, la demande d\u00e9passe d\u00e9sormais l\u2019offre durable, contribuant \u00e0 la d\u00e9gradation des for\u00eats, \u00e0 l\u2019exploitation ill\u00e9gale du bois et \u00e0 une d\u00e9pendance accrue aux produits import\u00e9s. Des milliers d\u2019entreprises sont actives dans les domaines du sciage, de la fabrication de meubles, des panneaux de bois, de la transformation du papier, du traitement des poteaux et de l\u2019emballage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ces activit\u00e9s g\u00e9n\u00e8rent des emplois dans les zones rurales comme urbaines et cr\u00e9ent souvent davantage d\u2019emplois par unit\u00e9 d\u2019investissement que de nombreuses industries extractives. Pourtant, une grande partie du bois africain est encore commercialis\u00e9e sous forme brute ou semi-transform\u00e9e, limitant les possibilit\u00e9s de cr\u00e9ation de valeur ajout\u00e9e, de d\u00e9veloppement industriel et de recettes d\u2019exportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le renforcement des capacit\u00e9s locales de transformation gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 de meilleures technologies, au d\u00e9veloppement des comp\u00e9tences et \u00e0 l\u2019investissement peut transformer le bois d\u2019une simple mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re en une ressource industrielle \u00e0 forte valeur ajout\u00e9e, cr\u00e9atrice d\u2019emplois, favorable aux PME et permettant de r\u00e9duire les d\u00e9ficits commerciaux li\u00e9s aux produits du bois transform\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au-del\u00e0 de ses usages traditionnels, le bois devient \u00e9galement une ressource strat\u00e9gique dans la bio\u00e9conomie \u00e9mergente. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale, les produits d\u00e9riv\u00e9s du bois remplacent progressivement des mat\u00e9riaux \u00e0 forte empreinte carbone comme l\u2019acier, le ciment, les plastiques et les produits issus des combustibles fossiles. Les innovations comprennent notamment le bois d\u2019ing\u00e9nierie pour la construction durable, les emballages biod\u00e9gradables, les textiles \u00e0 base de bois, les produits chimiques biosourc\u00e9s et les biomat\u00e9riaux avanc\u00e9s. Au Kenya, les syst\u00e8mes agroforestiers associant grevillea, eucalyptus et arbres fruitiers fournissent du bois d\u2019\u0153uvre, du bois-\u00e9nergie et des revenus tout en am\u00e9liorant la conservation des sols et la restauration des paysages. Selon<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kefri.org\/publications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> l&rsquo;Institut de recherche foresti\u00e8re du Kenya (KEFRI)<\/a>\u202f les arbres cultiv\u00e9s dans les exploitations agricoles contribuent d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 environ 40 \u00e0 50 % de l\u2019approvisionnement national en bois et en poteaux.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malgr\u00e9 ces avanc\u00e9es, plusieurs d\u00e9fis persistent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les petites et moyennes entreprises sont souvent confront\u00e9es \u00e0 un acc\u00e8s limit\u00e9 au financement, \u00e0 des cha\u00eenes de valeur fragment\u00e9es, \u00e0 une gouvernance insuffisante, \u00e0 des technologies de transformation inad\u00e9quates et \u00e0 des d\u00e9bouch\u00e9s commerciaux restreints. Les investissements forestiers sont fr\u00e9quemment consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme risqu\u00e9s en raison du temps n\u00e9cessaire pour obtenir des retours sur investissement. De plus, de nombreux pays continuent d\u2019exporter des mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res tout en important des produits transform\u00e9s \u00e0 plus forte valeur ajout\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour relever ces d\u00e9fis, une action politique coordonn\u00e9e et des investissements strat\u00e9giques sont n\u00e9cessaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019expansion de la production durable de bois \u00e0 travers les plantations commerciales, les for\u00eats communautaires et l\u2019agroforesterie sera essentielle pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande future. Ces exp\u00e9riences illustrent l\u2019importance d\u2019un engagement politique \u00e0 long terme, de l\u2019innovation et des partenariats entre gouvernements, communaut\u00e9s, institutions de recherche et secteur priv\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019Afrique dispose des ressources naturelles, des march\u00e9s en croissance et du capital humain n\u00e9cessaires pour b\u00e2tir une bio\u00e9conomie prosp\u00e8re fond\u00e9e sur le bois.
