Desmond Katongo is communications officer with the Center for International Forestry Research based in Lusaka, Zambia. Before joining CIFOR, he worked for four years as freelance journalist producing a football television show called “Mpila Zambia” for Supersport – a South African sports media company providing pay-TV television sports coverage in Africa. In those four years he also closely worked with Zambia-based BBC correspondents producing stories on health, environment and sport. In 2008, Desmond was a producer for a corporate public relations show called Pragmatic Media Solutions where he served as a writer and reporter. Prior to this, he spent two years working as a reporter and news anchor for Evelyn Hone College radio and television station. He earned a diploma in Journalism and Public Relations from Evelyn Hone College of Applied arts and Commerce.
