{"id":68427,"date":"2020-10-20T15:34:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-20T08:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/?p=68427"},"modified":"2020-11-02T12:34:41","modified_gmt":"2020-11-02T05:34:41","slug":"heroes-de-latinoamerica-siete-historias-de-resistencia-y-lucha-por-la-biodiversidad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/es\/68427\/heroes-de-latinoamerica-siete-historias-de-resistencia-y-lucha-por-la-biodiversidad","title":{"rendered":"H\u00e9roes de Latinoam\u00e9rica: Siete historias de resistencia y lucha por la biodiversidad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Siete actores y defensores ambientales de Am\u00e9rica Latina fueron seleccionados entre los m\u00e1s de 80 nominados al premio anual <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/774\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">H\u00e9roes del Paisaje<\/a> del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globallandscapesforum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Global Landscape Forum<\/a>, que busca reconocer a las personas, miembros de comunidades u organizaciones que trabajan para proteger y potenciar la biodiversidad de la Tierra.<\/p>\n<p>Las historias detr\u00e1s de estos rostros muestran c\u00f3mo en la regi\u00f3n hombres y mujeres de distintas procedencias se enfrentan a uno de los desaf\u00edos m\u00e1s grandes en la actualidad: detener la p\u00e9rdida acelerada de la biodiversidad y sus consecuencias. La destrucci\u00f3n en cadena que podr\u00eda llevar a la extinci\u00f3n a m\u00e1s de una especie o incluso, alg\u00fan ecosistema.<\/p>\n<p>Esto lo sabe bien <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/774\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Jorge Luis Ceballos<\/a>, el \u00fanico glaci\u00f3logo que tiene Colombia. Despu\u00e9s de \u00e9l, es probable que no solo se extinga una profesi\u00f3n en el pa\u00eds, sino tambi\u00e9n los \u00faltimos seis glaciares en \u201cestado terminal\u201d que quedan en Colombia. Consciente de la gran responsabilidad que lleva a cuestas, el nominado a \u201cH\u00e9roes del Paisaje 2020\u201d viene compartiendo su conocimiento cient\u00edfico a las nuevas generaciones, acompa\u00f1ado del compromiso firme de \u201cmonitorear y rastrear a estos gigantes moribundos hasta su \u00faltimo aliento\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Del otro lado de la frontera, en la Amazon\u00eda peruana, la ingeniera forestal <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/751\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Tatiana Espinosa<\/a> contin\u00faa su lucha para proteger los \u00e1rboles de una de las regiones m\u00e1s deforestadas del pa\u00eds. Desde que se asent\u00f3 en Madre de Dios, Tatiana se ha dedicado a identificar los \u00e1rboles m\u00e1s grandes y amenazados de la zona, entre ellos el Shihuahuaco (<em>Dipteryx micrantha<\/em>). Su misi\u00f3n es lograr que esta antigua especie en peligro sea recategorizada para evitar que se agote a\u00fan m\u00e1s, as\u00ed como difundir la necesidad de conservar los bosques naturales que a\u00fan sobreviven.<\/p>\n<p>En San Mart\u00edn, otra regi\u00f3n Amaz\u00f3nica de Per\u00fa donde los paisajes est\u00e1n siendo degradados, el especialista ambiental <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/761\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Jorge Watanabe<\/a> busca restablecer la funcionalidad del paisaje, recuperando la diversidad biol\u00f3gica y la cobertura forestal para mejorar el bienestar de las poblaciones locales. La iniciativa se lleva a cabo junto a los actores locales en los distritos de Shamboyacu y Tres Unidos, y con sus colegas del Centro de Conservaci\u00f3n, Investigaci\u00f3n y Manejo de \u00c1reas Naturales (CIMA).<\/p>\n<p>En representaci\u00f3n de los espacios urbanos, la investigadora <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/762\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Antonia Suero<\/a> fue seleccionada por su estudio y activ\u00edsimo en curso sobre el sistema verde urbano del Gran Santo Domingo, Rep\u00fablica Dominicana. Su objetivo es buscar soluciones para la conservaci\u00f3n de estos espacios y nuevas oportunidades para el patrimonio natural; entendiendo que estos no solo embellecen las ciudades, sino que tambi\u00e9n contribuyen a la econom\u00eda y al bienestar de los ciudadanos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guardianas ind\u00edgenas y locales<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En otras partes de Latinoam\u00e9rica y el Caribe cada d\u00eda surgen m\u00e1s ejemplos de c\u00f3mo las lideresas comunales dirigen la restauraci\u00f3n de sus paisajes. Tal es el caso de <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/752\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Romicile Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t<\/a>, m\u00e1s conocida como &#8216;Madame Dadou&#8217;, oriunda de la secci\u00f3n comunal de Meyac en la comuna La Vall\u00e9e de Jacmel en Hait\u00ed, quien promueve actividades de reforestaci\u00f3n movilizando a los ni\u00f1os, as\u00ed como a los miembros de las bases locales para abordar los problemas ambientales causados por la deforestaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En la selva de Talamanca en Costa Rica, las mujeres ind\u00edgenas tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n liderando el cambio mediante pr\u00e1cticas agr\u00edcolas ancestrales. Debido a la pandemia del COVID-19, y con el objetivo de garantizar la seguridad alimentaria de las familias, la Asociaci\u00f3n de Mujeres K\u00e1bata K\u00f6nana, fundada por la l\u00edder ind\u00edgena <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/773\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Maricela Fernandez<\/a>, ide\u00f3 un sistema virtual de trueque para abastecer de alimentos a las comunidades ind\u00edgenas bribri y cab\u00e9car. Mediante esta pr\u00e1ctica sostenible y efectiva basada en la naturaleza, las familias del territorio ind\u00edgena han podido abastecerse en tiempos de crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien las culturas ind\u00edgenas a\u00fan se mantienen vivas en algunos lugares, en otros estas agonizan. En el coraz\u00f3n de la selva amaz\u00f3nica de Brasil la cultura Kuruaya palpita sus \u00faltimos latidos. <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/770\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Iaw\u00e1<\/a>, \u00faltima hablante ind\u00edgena Kuruaya, se erige como un s\u00edmbolo de la resiliencia del bosque frente al extractivismo y los futuros proyectos (como la construcci\u00f3n de la tercera mayor hidroel\u00e9ctrica del mundo), que amenazan con destruir el medioambiente y al mismo tiempo terminar con la biodiversidad cultural, lo que considera \u201cel golpe final contra los pueblos tradicionales\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfTe inspiraron estas historias? <a href=\"https:\/\/events.globallandscapesforum.org\/biodiversity-2020\/landscape-heroes\/inspiring-landscape-heroes\/entry\/774\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Vota ahora<\/a> y ayuda al Global Landscapes Forum a elegir y destacar a estos h\u00e9roes de la biodiversidad.
