{"id":1203,"date":"2006-01-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-01-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wordpress\/?p=1203"},"modified":"2018-01-24T15:21:55","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T08:21:55","slug":"las-tribus-tratan-mejor-a-la-naturaleza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.forestsnews.org\/es\/1203\/las-tribus-tratan-mejor-a-la-naturaleza","title":{"rendered":"Las tribus tratan mejor a la naturaleza"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Un estudio reciente de la Universidad de Idaho demuestra que la poblaci\u00f3n ind\u00edgena de la Reserva Bosawas en Nicaragua destruye los bosques mucho menos que sus vecinos mestizos. De hecho, en promedio, cada colono mestizo deforest\u00f3 un \u00e1rea casi 17 veces m\u00e1s grande en 2002 que su contraparte ind\u00edgena.<\/p>\n<p>Desde hace tiempo los analistas han discutido si los ind\u00edgenas respetan m\u00e1s al medio ambiente que otros grupos. Los defensores de los ind\u00edgenas siempre destacan el profundo respeto por la naturaleza de las culturas tribales y el hecho de que han vivido en los bosques por miles de a\u00f1os sin destruirlos. Sin embargo, otros grupos afirman que hoy en d\u00eda los ind\u00edgenas est\u00e1n tan dispuestos como cualquiera a destruir sus bosques para ganar dinero r\u00e1pido.<\/p>\n<p>En el art\u00edculo M\u00e1s all\u00e1 del mapa: Impacto sobre ind\u00edgenas y colonos y defensa territorial en la reserva Bosawas en Nicaragua, Tony Stocks, Ben McMahan y Peter Taber usaron encuestas e im\u00e1genes de sat\u00e9lite del per\u00edodo 1986 a 2002 para ver quien ten\u00eda raz\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La Reserva de la Biosfera de Bosawas es un caso interesante. Cerca de 16.000 mayangnas y miskitus controlan dos tercios de la parte norte de la Reserva, mientras un n\u00famero similar de colonos mestizos controlan el sur. Los mayangnas y los miskitos son nativos del \u00e1rea, mientras que la mayor\u00eda de los colonos migraron all\u00ed recientemente desde \u00e1reas rurales cercanas. Ambos grupos son pobres y ninguno tiene buen acceso a los mercados. Sin embargo, los colonos no solo deforestaron mucho m\u00e1s sino que la diferencia entre los dos grupos parece ir en aumento.<\/p>\n<p>Esta diferencia se debe en gran parte al hecho que, a diferencia de los mayangnas y los miskitos, quienes dejan descansar la tierra por unos a\u00f1os y despu\u00e9s vuelven a sembrar sus cultivos en el mismo lugar, los colonos mestizos meten pastos permanentes una vez que han terminado de cultivar un \u00e1rea. En parte los colonos usan esos pastos para alimentar su ganado y en parte los usan como una forma de reclamar esa tierra como su propiedad privada. En contraste, los ind\u00edgenas mantienen sus animales con ellos en sus aldeas y manejan la tierra de forma comunal.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio de Idaho no demuestra que los ind\u00edgenas siempre manejan sus recursos de forma m\u00e1s sostenible. \u00c9ste es apenas un caso, y en otros podr\u00eda ser diferente. S\u00ed demuestra que a pesar de la globalizaci\u00f3n y la proliferaci\u00f3n de los valores occidentales, las diferencias culturales todav\u00eda son importantes. Cada grupo tiene sus propias reglas y su propia manera de hacer las cosas, y algunos tratan a la madre naturaleza mejor que otros.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio tambi\u00e9n deja claro que fortalecer el control de los ind\u00edgenas sobre sus territorios ayud\u00f3 a conservar los bosques de Bosawas.
